EDM # 136--Steve's Dracaena

My husband has the greenest of green thumbs. Because of this, we run a plant foster care program of sorts. Friends are given plants or even dish gardens instead of flowers for hospital stays or funerals. The recipient appreciates the gift, but wants it to live. So it comes to live here, where I can draw and paint them!

This sketch is my first attempt at a pen and ink drawing with a watercolor wash.

Zentangles

I discovered this fun form of doodle-art at www.zentangle.com. It is a great way to unlock creativity and get some marks on the page. There is a kit you can purchase on the website with patterns and paper.

Because I am unable to be like everyone else, I just threw caution to the wind and made it up as I went along.

There are some helpful videos available on YouTube. The Zentangles website also offers some patterns in a free newsletter.

An introduction of sorts

Slowly, I am moving forward with my plan to participate in the group Everyday Matters. I have started a sketchbook. I am working on the challenges and also sketching other subjects that interest me.

Now I am setting up a blog to document my progress and get feedback. I want to improve my drawing skills and the EDMs group seems like a great way to do that.

I also plan on showcasing artwork from various classes I take.

Even though this means confronting many fears, I am excited to get started!
